Xizhi District combines a mountainous landscape with a historic street and the Keelung River. Its peaks, Xizhi Old Street and Starlight Bridge offer different highlights for a stay—from mountain ranges and local history to a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists.

Mountains and Hiking Trail

The mountains in Xizhi do not reach 1,000 meters; most peaks are between 300 and 600 meters high. This makes the landscape one of moderate elevations. At Shitoushan, also called Xitoushan, the hiking trail begins at Yuquan Temple in Wudu. The mountain is 174 meters high. If you would like to include a specific mountain hike in your plans, the temple provides a named starting point. Shitoushan is therefore significantly lower than most of the district’s peaks.

A Street with Historical Connections

Xizhi Old Street refers to the approximately 1,000-meter stretch of Zhongzheng Road from Xizhi Station to Limen Street. The street was formerly called Shuifanjiao Street. Historic landmarks in the area include Jide Temple, a Mazu temple, Zhongshun Temple on the site of a former shrine, the public market on the site of the former Qixing District market, and a torii in Xizhi Park. These local connections range from religious sites to the history of the former market and a torii in the park. This gives you a way to explore the area’s history beyond its former street name.

Getting Around the Keelung River

Starlight Bridge spans the Keelung River and is 270 meters long. It is reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists. Unlike the hiking trail at Shitoushan, the bridge offers clear information not only about its riverside location but also about how it is intended to be used: on foot or by bicycle. The two places offer different starting points for planning your day.

Excursions and Seasonal Events

For excursions in the district, Xizhi, Xike and Wudu stations can serve as starting points; from there, you can reach attractions by bus or community shuttle. Qinjing Road leads from Xizhi Station to Dajian Mountain Scenic Area. This lets you distinguish a specific road route to this destination from the general rail and bus guidance for other excursions. Check current connections before setting out.
