Jinhu brings together a range of impressions: the green shoreline of Taihu, a garden with old banyan trees, historic sites, distinctive architecture and paths to viewpoints. This makes the township an interesting destination for travelers who want to include both scenery and culture in their holiday plans. You can focus on the themes that appeal to you most, rather than limiting your stay to just one kind of outing.

Reservoir, Island Paths and Views

Taihu, Kinmen’s largest reservoir, lies within the township. It was created in 1966 and covers 36 hectares. Two small islands sit in the lake, while pavilions and paths shape its green shoreline. The water, islands and landscaped shore each contribute distinct features to the scenery, which you can consider as different focal points when planning your visit.

At Lanhou, a stone path connects the shore to an island in the lake. The area is known as a fishing and recreation spot. Here, the connection between the shore and the island takes center stage. This sets it apart from Taihu through the specific stone path linking land and island; both places offer different perspectives on the township’s landscape.

From the 134 Highland viewpoint, you can see, among other places, Mount Taiwu to the north, Taihu, the Shanwai urban area, Luoluo Bay, Chenggong Beach, the Kinmen Bridge and the estuary at Qionglin. The panorama therefore includes several named landscapes and places. If you enjoy taking in a variety of scenes in a single sweeping view, this offers a different focus from the paths by the water.

Fuguodun Fishing Harbor also has its own appeal: it is known as a place to watch and photograph sunrises and sunsets. There is also a sea-view path. The harbor and 134 Highland offer different views through their respective features: here, the sea and changing daylight; there, a broad range of mountains, bodies of water, places and coastal landmarks.

Gardens, Architecture and History

The Rongyuan Garden is part of the township’s cultural character. It contains Weilu, an old residence excavated by soldiers from the flying sand. The garden is also home to about ten century-old banyan trees. Together, the excavated residence and the old trees give the site both an architectural and a natural dimension.

The Chen Jinglan Western-style House stands out for its pale, almost white facade, elaborate carvings and symmetrical arches. These details offer specific features to look for in the architecture: the color of the exterior walls, the carefully worked decorations and the recurring arch motif.

By Taihu, Father Luo Memorial Park occupies the site of the Catholic church where Father Luo once treated Kinmen residents and gave them medicine. The park thus links a lakeside location with the history of this help for local residents. Nan Shihu Park reflects a different kind of historical change: after quarrying ended, the former quarry was transformed into the park it is today.

Routes and Trip Planning

The Xi Shan Ancient Trail passes the Reflection Tower, the Observation-and-Chess Site and Wu Wang Zai Ju. This route can therefore be distinguished from the individual viewpoints and lakeside spots: three named attractions lie along the trail. This description does not include information about walking time or difficulty; for planning, you can use the listed stops and your interest in taking a route as a guide.

If you’re looking for a holiday apartment in Jinhu, the kind of trip you want can be a useful starting point: would you like your stay to focus mainly on lakeside scenery and views, architecture and history, or routes to named attractions? These examples show different sides of the township and can help you choose your own priorities for outings.
