The events described here show Itaporã as a place with a wide range of cultural and sporting highlights: theater, rodeo, and music sit alongside judo tournaments and soccer. When planning your trip, it makes a difference whether you primarily want to experience a stage production, a sporting event, or a festival featuring regional traditions.

Theater, Music, and Events

The Passion play “A Paixão de Cristo” was staged at Estádio Chavinha for the second year in a row. It was organized in partnership between the Prefeitura de Itaporã and Paróquia São José. The venue and collaboration give the play a firm local setting. Those interested in religious theater will find it offers a different focus from the city’s music and sporting events.

At EXPOITA 2025, professional rodeo was paired with live music shows. The event opened at Parque de Exposições Messias Cordeiro da Silva. Another event held at this venue was the 7th Encontro Carapé de Laço Comprido. The Festival Metal Rock Itaporã is also part of the events calendar, featuring bands from various rock genres. The festival aims to represent the rock culture of Itaporã and the region. The events described therefore range from traditional celebrations to a variety of musical styles.

Sporting Highlights and Local Traditions

The 2nd Copa Itaporã de Judô was the third stage of the 2026 state Circuito Estadual and was held at Ginásio de Esportes de Itaporã. Delegations from across the state took part: 39 clubs and associations were represented, with 620 entries registered in the official categories. By contrast, the finals of the 2026 Liga Municipal de Futebol de Campo de Itaporã took place at Estádio Chavinha. The Copa Craque do Amanhã is also dedicated to soccer; it aims to strengthen youth soccer and promote the sport on grass pitches.

The Festa do Laço is considered a tradition that has endured in Itaporã for decades. Together with the Encontro Carapé de Laço Comprido, it gives the events a connection to Laço Comprido, offering a different facet of local festival life from theater, rock music, or soccer. Choosing among these themes lets you plan around the event you want to make the focus of your trip.

Feirita and a Glimpse of the Region

Traditional food, musical performances, quadrilles, and games were announced for the first Feirita in the Festa Julina edition. The event was scheduled for July 5 and 6 in the courtyard of Ginásio de Esportes in Itaporã. The event concept was intended to bring together cultural and gastronomic offerings and turn the grounds into a large arraial. The announced activities offer a different kind of festival from a single concert or tournament: food, music, dance, and games were all planned together. This distinction may be useful when looking for a vacation rental if you want to plan your trip around a particular type of event.

Road connections are also useful for finding your way around: Avenida Jose Chaves da Silva provides access to the section of MS-156 that connects Itaporã with Dourados. A section of MS-157 in Itaporã leads to the district of Santa Terezinha. Itaporã is also part of the Grande Dourados tourist region in Mato Grosso do Sul. Nearby is Aldeia Jaguapiru, between the municipalities of Dourados and Itaporã. A celebration for Semana dos Povos Indígenas takes place there, highlighting the cultural diversity of the region’s Indigenous communities.

Another project, Saúde no Parque, takes place at Parque Ariovaldo Maria Bento. It adds a park-based offering to the range of topics mentioned here. When choosing a reason to travel, you can distinguish between sports, music, theater, festival traditions, and this project without treating the different events as a single program.
