Crespo: Railway History, Culture and Green Learning Spaces
Accommodation in Crespo
Crespo brings together a history closely linked to a railway station, regional culture and unusual green spaces. At La Vieja Estación, you can trace the city’s historical origins; the Museo Municipal del Centenario and the Fiesta Nacional de la Avicultura offer further insight into Crespo’s cultural side. There are also gardens and environmental learning spaces where nature observation and education play a role.
Railway Station, Museum and Tradition
La Vieja Estación was the first railway station, around which the city of Crespo grew. Its buildings were declared municipal historical monuments under Ordinance 22/97. Decree 3112/19 also designated them as architectural historical heritage of the province of Entre Ríos. The site thus connects the city’s origins with its officially recognized historical heritage.
The Museo Municipal del Centenario is located in the former home of Francisco Goette and Bárbara Rausch, members of one of the founding families of Aldea San José. It has a historical and regional focus and hosts traveling exhibitions throughout the year. Those interested in the region’s history will find a different perspective here than at the former railway station: the museum focuses on regional topics and changing exhibitions.
Another enduring part of the local culture is the Fiesta Nacional de la Avicultura. Since its first edition in October 1964, it has been part of Crespo’s tradition. It is a tourism and cultural event at both the provincial and national levels.
Green Spaces and Environmental Education
The Eco-Jardín Educativo y Vivero covers 10,000 m². Its grounds include paths, QR-code signage, a bivouac area and an agroecological garden. The vegetation attracts a diverse range of wildlife, making the garden an interesting place for birdwatching and bird photography. It offers a nature-focused experience distinct from Crespo’s cultural and historical sites.
Parque Ambiental also combines green space with learning: it covers three hectares and is designed as an outdoor classroom where concepts of environmental protection and care are taught. During guided visits, the park’s different areas and its waste treatment and recycling processes are explained. Those interested in these topics can include the visit in their trip as an environmental education experience.
For children, Parque Infantil Evita offers another green space with games and entertainment. Its focus differs from that of Parque Ambiental: play and leisure take center stage, rather than teaching environmental concepts.
Visits to the Eco-Jardín Educativo y Vivero Municipal for the entire community and for educational institutions could be arranged in advance by telephone, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Getting to Crespo and Finding a Holiday Rental
One of the main routes into Crespo is the Túnel Subfluvial Raúl Uranga-Carlos Sylvestre Begnis. It connects Santa Fe and Paraná beneath the Río Paraná, was the first tunnel of its kind in South America, and is 2,937 metres long.
When looking for a holiday rental in Crespo, you can start by considering which side of the town you want to shape your stay: historical connections and regional culture, or green spaces, birdwatching and environmental education. Families can also include Parque Infantil Evita as a separate leisure option. This way, you can choose accommodation based on the experiences you have planned, without assuming a particular location or set of amenities.
