Discover Trafalgar
Accommodation in Trafalgar
A preserved dairy building, an interactive Holden Museum, arts offerings and a nature reserve give Trafalgar a varied character. There is also a monthly farmers’ market, an outdoor pool and a golf course north of the town. This gives you different options when planning your trip: you can consider culture, nature and local offerings, then decide what you want your stay to focus on.
Museum and Art in Trafalgar
The Trafalgar Holden Museum is housed in a preserved dairy factory in Trafalgar. Its interactive exhibits invite children to explore how a Holden vehicle works. In this way, the museum combines the history of a specific type of vehicle with a hands-on experience. Families who enjoy discovering things together during their trip will find a different focus here than on a day outdoors.
The Station Gallery is located at Trafalgar and Yarragon railway stations. It provides local artists in the Baw Baw area with studio, exhibition and event spaces. The gallery opened in October 2015 and has two workshop areas for Bbaa or the community. Art Space 2 is specifically set up for workshops involving messier activities. The offering therefore includes both spaces for art and exhibitions and a separate area for this kind of workshop activity.
Market, Swimming and Golf
The Trafalgar Farmers Market is held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at McGregor Park in Trafalgar, Victoria. Its guiding principle is “make it, bake it, sew it, grow it”: the market supports local farmers and artisans. If you plan your stay around a visit to the market, the regular time slot on the first Saturday gives you a concrete point of reference. The market complements the museum and arts offerings with an opportunity to discover local agriculture and crafts.
The Trafalgar Outdoor Pool has a 33-metre main pool and a shaded toddler pool with water-play features. This gives families a dedicated option for spending time in the water, distinct from visiting cultural venues. If you would rather fit in a round of golf, Trafalgar Golf Course is seven kilometres north of the town. Visitors are welcome, and a round can be booked. The pool and golf course offer different ways to spend your free time, and the golf course is specifically located outside the town.
Trails in Uralla Nature Reserve
Uralla Nature Reserve is on the edge of Trafalgar. The reserve has approximately 3.5 kilometres of trails to explore, as well as an accessible walking trail. The approximate total length of the trails and the single accessible walking trail are two distinct points of reference. If you enjoy walking, you can make the nature reserve a focus of your trip without centring your stay exclusively on culture or the town centre.
In the vicinity of Trafalgar, Sunny Creek Organic in Trafalgar South offers berry picking in summer and operates a farm shop there. This adds a seasonal option centred on berries and the farm shop to the available outings. When choosing a holiday rental, you can consider whether you want to focus your stay more on nature trails, what the town has to offer, or seasonal destinations like these. The golf course, in turn, is seven kilometres north of the town and can be considered as a separate outing when weighing up your options.
