Parks, water and history shape the range of things to do in the Borough of Baldwin. At Elm Leaf Park, seasonal swimming, a playground and pavilion reservations come together; the Log House adds a historical perspective, while Eagle’s Landing Riverfront Park is still under construction. The activities therefore differ not only by theme, but especially by season, reservation requirements and current development status.

Elm Leaf Park: Swimming, Play and Seasonal Planning

In the Borough of Baldwin, Elm Leaf Park offers several different reasons to visit. Its Olympic-size swimming pool is open to residents and nonresidents each year from late May through early September. For a day of swimming, the season is therefore the main consideration; check current operating information before your visit. A new playground is a useful point of reference when planning a visit with children. A park update also included horseshoe pits, a small pavilion, a newly built restroom and electricity at the pavilions.

Borough of Baldwin residents can reserve the largest pavilion during the seasonal window from the second weekend in May through the last weekend in September. Recurring dates may be adjusted. Reservations are for residents, while the swimming pool is also open to nonresidents. This distinction can be important when planning a visit to the park.

Sit & Fit in the Baldwin Borough Senior Fitness Program

Sit & Fit is a gentle, seated exercise class designed to support strength, mobility, balance and overall well-being. The program has been extended through the end of 2026; classes meet once a week in the evening from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Since the schedule may change, check current dates when making specific plans. This weekly evening time slot differs considerably from the Elm Leaf Park’s annual swimming season, which lasts several months.

Log House: History with Tours by Appointment

The Log House dates to 1830 and probably originally belonged to the Willett family. Its earlier public educational offerings included Boy Scout meetings and vacation Bible school classes. For visitors who would like to include history in their stay, the Baldwin Historical Society offers tours on request and by appointment. Arrange a date with the Society in advance.

Riverfront and Birdwatching at Eagle’s Landing

The Eagle’s Landing Riverfront Park site is located on the Monongahela River and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail/Great Allegheny Passage. It includes natural areas along the urban trail system and is suitable for birdwatching; a pair of bald eagles nests nearby. At the same time, the park project is under construction. The combination of its riverside location, natural areas and birdwatching gives the project a clear connection to the landscape. The construction status is important for an actual visit: check current access conditions in advance.
