Etna: Riverfront, Parks, and Recreation Spots
Accommodation in Etna
Etna offers several distinct recreation spots: riverfront paths and places to get active, play and sports areas, and a seasonal community pool. When looking for a vacation rental, it can help to first consider whether you would most like to include river views and paths, particular sports, or a place to swim in your travel plans. Each recreation spot has its own focus.
Riverfront, Paths, and Heritage Area
Etna Riverfront Park covers 1.8 acres and has 780 feet of riverfront. The two measurements describe different aspects: the park’s total area and the length of its riverfront. The park offers residents of Etna and neighboring communities opportunities for running, walking, biking, and rollerblading, as well as scenic river views. It is located in the Rivers of Steel Heritage Area. Etna has also developed hiking maps and trails for its residents. If you would like to use a map in your planning, check its availability in advance.
Play, Sports, and Swimming
Clarence Fugh Memorial Park brings together a playground, a pavilion, a lighted deck hockey rink, a basketball court, a concession stand, and a public community swimming pool. If you’re traveling with children and would like to include a playground in your day’s plans, this is a specific option; basketball and deck hockey offer distinct sports activities as well. Different recreation interests come together in one place, while the pool operates on its own seasonal schedule.
In 2026, Clarence Fugh Memorial Park and Pool is open seasonally, from the Saturday after the end of the Shaler schools’ school year through the first day of the new school year, daily from 12:00 to 19:00. Since operations are tied to these school-year dates, check the seasonal schedule before planning a specific visit.
Rain Gardens in Different Locations
ECO Park Rain Garden is a green parklet at the intersection of Wilson Street and Grant Avenue that the Etna community has redesigned for public use. On September 7, 2013, a sustainable rain garden was installed at the Clarence Fugh Memorial Park and Swimming Pool Facility on Pine Street. If you’re interested in designed public spaces, you’ll find two different types here: a green parklet and a sustainable rain garden.
Sports Facilities and Summer Market
Dougherty Veteran's Field hosts baseball and softball games for all ages. Its facilities include a concession stand, restrooms, batting cages, and lighting for evening games. Tony Damiano Memorial Hockey Deck is home to the Etna Deck Hockey Association. If you’re planning your leisure time around a particular sport, the locations are easy to distinguish: baseball and softball are played at Dougherty Veteran's Field, and deck hockey at the Hockey Deck.
The Etna Economic Development Corporation is planning an annual summer farmers’ market in Etna. If you’d like a market visit to help determine your travel dates, check in advance whether a date is scheduled for your travel period.
