The column is surrounded by a 525-foot-long mural, and its observation platform offers panoramic views of the Columbia River and snow-capped volcanoes in the distance.

The Columbia River Maritime Museum is designated as the official maritime museum of the state of Oregon. Visitors can board the museum ship Lightship Columbia there. An interactive exhibition map of the Graveyard of the Pacific documents more than 200 large ships and 700 deaths at sea. This makes it possible to create a varied stay for families with different interests: while some members of the group explore historical rooms or ships, the coast offers a completely different thematic experience.

The Seaside Aquarium, the oldest privately operated aquarium on the West Coast, is also one of the well-known attractions. In Astoria, the Astoria Sunday Market also takes place every Sunday from Mother's Day through mid-October.
