Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts offers options for all kinds of vacation days: a supervised swimming area, non-motorized boating, historic buildings and winter cross-country skiing. There are also adventure activities at Mont Catherine. If you’re traveling with family and weighing different interests, this range of options can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.

Beach and non-motorized boats

Plage Major has a swimming area supervised by qualified lifeguards. If swimming is part of your plans, this is a specific feature of the beach. Plage Tessier, on the other hand, shouldn’t be treated as a general alternative: it is reserved exclusively for residents.

Non-motorized boats can be launched from the municipal beaches of Plage Major or Plage Tessier. A free washing station is available on site. When planning, it’s worth considering the boating option alongside the access restriction at Plage Tessier. This makes it easier to assess whether water activities should be a focus of your trip, without assuming both beaches are equally accessible.

Winter activities and adventures at Mont Catherine

In winter, the Centre de plein air du Parc régional Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts offers more than 50 km of marked and groomed cross-country ski trails for skiers of all ability levels. If cross-country skiing is the focus of your stay, you’ll find an extensive offering that explicitly caters to different ability levels. The trail length refers to marked and groomed routes; on its own, it doesn’t indicate how long any individual outing will take.

At Mont Catherine, Tyroparc offers mega zip lines, Via Ferrata, fat biking and an adventure park with obstacles. This provides a different range of activities alongside cross-country skiing. Tyroparc also offers guided snowmobile excursions lasting at least 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can take this minimum duration into account when scheduling your winter activities.

A range of cultural history

Théâtre Le Patriote is an event venue owned by the town. The venue now known as Le Patriote began operating in 1967 under the name Théâtre de la Sablière.

Several buildings also offer an opportunity to explore Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts from a cultural and historical perspective. Église de Sainte-Agathe is a Catholic place of worship built between 1905 and 1907. Ancienne gare de Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is designated a historic monument. Presbytère de Sainte-Agathe is a historic, heritage-protected building in the heart of the municipality.

Maison Évariste-Chénier offers a different perspective on local architectural history: this village house was built of wood in 1895 for farmer Évariste Chénier. Its architecture recalls the village-style residential buildings common in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts at the time. Together, these buildings offer a range of cultural points of interest—from a Catholic place of worship and heritage-protected buildings to the history of village housing.

Choose the right focus for your trip

When looking for a vacation rental, your planned activities may help you decide: in winter, cross-country skiing and guided snowmobile excursions are specific options; for other travel plans, you might be interested in the supervised swimming area, non-motorized boats or the town’s cultural history. If you’re planning to go boating, pay particular attention to the restriction at Plage Tessier.

In the same overview, you’ll also find Lac-Supérieur, La Conception, Saint-Faustin-Lac-Carré, Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides, Val-David, Val-Morin, Mont Tremblant and Val-Des-Lacs.
