Mont-Saint-Pierre
Accommodation in Mont-Saint-Pierre
Mont-Saint-Pierre brings together impressive views, trails through the Gaspé Peninsula and stories of free flight. There’s also a beach with places to play and relax, as well as special insights into the area’s natural and local history. If you’re looking for a vacation rental for your trip, consider whether you’d prefer to spend most of your time outdoors, visit exhibitions or relax at the beach.
Lookouts and Trails
The Sentier du Lynx leads to a lookout on Mont François-Bernèche. From there, enjoy panoramic views of Mont-Saint-Pierre and the St. Lawrence River.
The Gaspé Peninsula section of the International Appalachian Trail also passes through Mont-Saint-Pierre, making the village part of a longer-distance hiking trail. The Sentier du Delta offers a different kind of activity: it can be ridden by mountain bike. The parking lot at Salle du clocher is recommended for this trail.
Get Active Outdoors
Mont-Saint-Pierre’s year-round outdoor offerings include mountain biking, snowshoeing, spectacular lookouts and access to Mont Jacques-Cartier. The options range from activities on two wheels to outings in the snow. When planning your trip, it’s worth focusing on your own interests rather than treating all the activities as one combined itinerary.
Other activities on offer include snowmobiling, ice climbing and backcountry skiing. Free flight is also available.
Village Square and Discoveries
Place du village is the starting point for activities in Mont-Saint-Pierre. It’s home to Espace Découverte, with interactive screens, an immersive model and a ticket counter. A historic building called the “chafaud” also stands in the square. If you’re interested in local history and getting your bearings, you’ll find several different points of interest in one place.
Free Flight and the History of the Landscape
Salle du clocher is a converted church that houses “À vol d'oiseau,” an immersive exhibit about paragliding, free flight and their history. One room explains the valley’s distinctive winds. The exhibit makes local flight history a topic in its own right, alongside outdoor activities.
Another aspect of the natural world awaits at the observatory on the 430-metre summit of Mont-Saint-Pierre. There, the immersive experience “Odyssée, la face cachée du mont Saint-Pierre” explores the geological history of the glacial valley. The two exhibits focus on different subjects: one on free flight and the winds, the other on how the valley was formed.
Time at the Beach
Mont-Saint-Pierre Beach has an outdoor stage, beach games, hammocks, swings and picnic tables. If you’re travelling with children, the beach games and swings offer ways to enjoy time outdoors together; hammocks and picnic tables round out the beach amenities. You can plan a beach visit as a separate part of your stay, alongside trails, lookouts and immersive experiences.
