Discover Beaverlodge
Accommodation in Beaverlodge
A tall roadside sculpture, changing art exhibitions, and a playground with several sports fields: Beaverlodge offers plenty of reasons to explore the town and its surroundings. Agriculture also shapes local interests, from a research station to an annual event. When planning your trip, you can choose between culture, activities in town, and destinations nearby.
Art and local history
The Beaverlodge Art & Culture Centre is housed in the former Beaverlodge Hospital, which operated from 1937 to 1956. Today, the Centre has two ground-floor galleries that host changing exhibitions. Its offerings are complemented by a gift shop featuring works by local artists and artisans. The building brings together art exhibitions, local creative work, and a piece of the town’s history.
Another historic landmark lies south of Beaverlodge: McNaught Homestead was designated a Provincial Historical Resource on July 23, 2003. The South Peace Centennial Museum is also nearby. This 40-acre agricultural pioneer village features restored historic machinery and historic pioneer buildings. Visitors interested in art, agriculture, and the region’s history will find a range of topics to consider when choosing excursions.
Playgrounds, sports, and recreation
Beaverlodge has seven modern playgrounds. One example is Lions Park, which features a pavilion, a soccer field, a basketball court, restrooms, and a playground. These amenities distinguish the park from the town’s other playgrounds. For a trip with children, playgrounds offer a destination in their own right; those looking to include sports facilities will also find soccer and basketball areas at Lions Park.
Equestrian sports and motorsports are also part of the local recreation scene. Beaverlodge Agri-Plex has two riding arenas used by riding clubs and 4-H. In the northwestern part of town, the Beaverlodge Motocross Club has built a competition track. In summer, the club takes part in a racing circuit of Peace Country communities. These offerings cater to different interests: the riding arenas are used by clubs and 4-H, while the motocross club has a competition track and participates in the summer racing circuit.
The Riverbend Golf & Country Club is another sporting option nearby. It is located west of Beaverlodge, among trees along the Beaverlodge River, 2 km off Highway 43. The club has nine holes. Its location and size set it apart from the sports facilities in local parks and the motocross club’s competition track.
Agriculture and local gathering places
Beaverlodge Agri-Plex hosts the Agricultural Fair every August. If you are planning your trip dates, this recurring August event is a useful point of reference. The Agri-Plex also has the two riding arenas used by riding clubs and 4-H—two distinct aspects of the same place.
The Beaverlodge Farmers Market is held at the Beaverlodge AG Complex on 5th Avenue, next to the baseball fields. Beaverlodge is also home to Canada’s northernmost agricultural research station. The market, fair, and research station highlight agriculture in different ways: as a local gathering place, an annual event, and a research site.
Landmarks and nearby destinations
The Giant Beaver is a tall roadside sculpture and a photo stop in Beaverlodge. Information panels around the sculpture tell visitors about the beaver’s habitat and behaviour, as well as the town. The landmark combines a striking photo opportunity with information about the animal and the community.
Saskatoon Mountain is four miles east of Beaverlodge, with a picnic area at its summit. McNaught Homestead south of town and Saskatoon Mountain offer different nearby experiences: a historic site and a summit with a picnic area. If you plan to use Beaverlodge as a base for these discoveries, you can choose your vacation rental based on the focus of your trip.
