Grande Prairie offers several distinct reasons to visit: Muskoseepi Park extends through the city centre and encompasses more than 1,100 acres of parkland; there are also sports facilities, art and regional history. This means you can plan your trip around a range of interests—time outdoors, water-based activities and indoor sports, or cultural discoveries. Which of these you prioritise will shape the character of your itinerary. The park covers more than 445 hectares.

Trails and Water at Muskoseepi Park

The park has 18 kilometres of paved and natural trails for hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing. These activities offer different ways to spend time outdoors. The pond also adds other options to the park: it can be enjoyed year-round and offers opportunities for fishing and ice skating. The parkland, trails and pond provide several concrete starting points for planning your day—from trail sports to activities on the water.

Water Sports and Indoor Activities

The Eastlink Centre offers a different focus. It has a competition-ready, Olympic-sized 50-metre swimming pool; diving platforms, a surf simulator and a water park round out the aquatic facilities. There are also indoor courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and squash, as well as an indoor running track. If you want to include water activities and indoor sports in your travel plans, there are several types of sports facilities to choose from. The Eastlink Centre also has various food and drink vendors, as well as health and wellness shops. The facility’s offerings therefore extend beyond its sports areas.

Art and History in Grande Prairie

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie maintains the largest public art collection in the Peace Region. Other cultural highlights include places dedicated to the history of the city and region. Forbes Homestead is the oldest standing building in Grande Prairie. The Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village presents the region’s history; the Grande Prairie Museum has a collection of more than 55,000 artefacts. Heritage Village is a collection of 20 historic and replica buildings from Grande Prairie’s history. You can consider art, artefacts, buildings and local history as distinct themes when planning your trip.

Find the Right Vacation Rental for Your Plans

When looking for a vacation rental, first decide which of these themes matter most for your stay: the park and trails, the facilities at the Eastlink Centre, or art and history. This way, you can choose a base that suits your own travel plans rather than assuming that one location will work equally well for every interest.
