Connections

A pedestrian bridge connects Anaklia with the village of Ganmukhuri. The walkable section of the bridge is 504 metres long, spans the Enguri River, and was designed by the German architect Peter Walser.

The Anaklia seafront promenade was designed by the Spanish architectural firm CMD Ingenieros, S.L.

History and Culture

Anaklia has the ruins of a fortress built in 1703. The fortress is surrounded by a two-tier defensive wall.

The Dikha Gudzuba archaeological monument documents the activities of the Colchians in Anaklia in the 6th to 5th century BC. Archaeological finds from Anaklia’s Dikha Gudzuba are preserved in the Zugdidi Museum nearby.

Anaklia is considered one of the very first seaports and fishing villages on the Black Sea.
