Tollered combines industrial heritage with lakes, marked trails and special experiences on the water. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment as a base for varied days will find opportunities here for culture, walks and paddling trips. You can discover the village both through its historic appearance and its surrounding landscape.

Historic Tollered and Cultural Experiences

Tollered’s historic village character still includes factory buildings, residential houses, inns, shops, a medical station, a fire station and mills. Signs explaining the history of the village, as well as marked hiking trails, help you find your way when you want to explore the area independently. The Nääs Fabriker app also offers a self-guided historical tour of Tollered.

A special point of interest is Tollered Öfvre Kraftstation. This industrial heritage site is managed by a museum association. You should contact them by telephone or email in advance of your visit. If you would like to learn more about the industrial site, guided tours can be booked year-round. In addition, Tollereds Biograf at Volrath Bergs väg 7 offers a cinema experience; the cinema includes a café where fika is sold during the film interval. The rustic Smedjan, dating from 1833, has a stage and a bar.

Trails, Water and Different Day Plans

Three circular trails of 3 km, 5.4 km and 8 km begin at Nääs Fabriker. This allows you to choose a length that suits your day plan without limiting your stay to a single activity. Stage 7 of the Gotaleden leads from Tollered to Norsesund through forests and pastureland, passing old farms and swimming lakes. Anyone who enjoys learning about local history along the way can combine the marked trails with the self-guided tour.

The lakes also shape the range of possible holiday days. Around Tollered, there is an interconnected paddling system comprising eight lakes, including Torskabotten and Ömmern. Lake Sävelången is suitable for shorter canoe trips of around one hour as well as day trips. Kayaks can be rented at Nääs Fabriker. Sjölyckan is located on Lake Sävelången, has a canoe station and offers raft trips, as well as a raft that can be rented for trips on the lake. A fishing boat with an electric motor is also available for rent there.

For a day of swimming, the Torskabotten swimming spot in southern Tollered is a good choice. There you will find swimming jetties, a raft and ladders, as well as a sandy and grassy shoreline. Benches with tables, a barbecue area, waste bins and a dry toilet are also provided; parking spaces are located right next to the site. From Sjölyckan, a short walk of about 20 minutes through Tollered leads to Lake Torskabotten. This specific connection can be helpful when planning a day by the water.
