Hiking trails and lakes around Seglora
The approximately 1.6-kilometre-long Seglora–Skärsjön hiking loop runs along small forest paths around Skärsjön, east of Seglora, and is fairly flat. It therefore offers a manageable route for an outing in the countryside. The green Viskadalen hiking trail follows gravel paths near Viskadalens folkhögskola in Seglora and is also fairly flat. If you would like to plan a longer route, the Seglora–Hunghults gamla kyrkväg hiking trail offers a 6.5-kilometre option.
Seglora has several lakes; Stora Hålsjön is the largest. The Viskan also shapes the locality: The river winding through Seglora invites you to go canoeing. At Bua strand, there is also a municipal bathing jetty. This allows you to vary the balance between hiking and water-based experiences, without every day of your trip having to follow the same rhythm.
Church, local history and crafts
Seglora kyrka and its church village have a historical continuity dating back to the Middle Ages. The present church stands 300 metres northeast of the site of the old church. You can park at Seglora kyrka and start and finish your hike on the Kulturleden there. Anyone wishing to combine nature and local history can include this starting point in their own plans.
Seglora Hembygdsgården features several tangible examples of the region’s architectural and everyday history. Lundastugan is one of the few ridge-pole rooms preserved in the surrounding area. The vicarage is a valuable historic building and was probably built in 1793. At Hantverkshörnan, among other things, rag rugs and table runners made in the weaving room are sold. Another historical trace is Gamla Sälgeredsbron, which was built in 1856.
Traditions and excursions with different focuses
The local heritage association of Seglora organises local walks to various destinations in the surrounding area. A Midsummer festival with dancing and games around the Midsummer pole is also one of the recurring events. These traditions give the trip a cultural framework, while the trails, lakes and river leave room for activities of your own.
In the immediate vicinity of the destination lies the Tranhult nature reserve between Viskafors and Seglora, not far from Viskadalens folkhögskola. There is a car park and an information board there. For visitors who like to divide their days between the landscape and getting their bearings locally, this area offers another opportunity to get to know the surroundings. Seglora also has two rocks suitable for climbing.
