Nature and Trails

A 3.1-kilometre training trail runs along Sidsjön. Fishing is also possible there, while canoeing takes place on Sidsjön and canoes can be rented on site. The St. Olav’s Trail begins near Sundsvall, seven kilometres away, at Selånger. The pilgrimage trail runs for around 580 kilometres to Trondheim; the first section can also be explored in shorter stages in the Sundsvall area.

For travellers arriving by train, signs mark the 10-kilometre route from Sundsvall railway station to Selånger, where the St. Olav’s Trail begins.

Culture and Urban History

Kulturmagasinet is located in the centre of Sundsvall and can be reached by bus, bicycle, car or on foot. Events take place there year-round, including guided tours, lectures, films, dance performances, concerts and theatre productions. The library in Kulturmagasinet is a meeting place for everyone and offers information, knowledge, reading experiences and activities. The exhibitions of Sundsvalls museum are located in the two building sections Barkassen and Skonerten.

Sundsvalls museum is dedicated to the history of the city. Its collections include Swedish contemporary art. The art collection also ranges from Swedish art of the late 19th century to the present day and focuses on artists from northern Sweden. The archaeological holdings include finds from the Högom burial ground, dated to the Migration Period in central Norrland around 500 AD.

Stenstan in Sundsvall is a cultural and historical environment of national interest and a unique attraction in Sweden. Visitor offerings in Stenstan include shops, restaurants and cafés.

Mountain Activities and Winter

The ski slope facility at Södra Berget in central Sundsvall includes a family slope and a competition slope with World Cup status. In total, it has two downhill runs and two lifts. The longest run is 650 metres long and has a vertical drop of 142 metres.

Södra stadsberget is considered a year-round destination for the whole family. Cycling and skiing are both possible at Södra stadsberget. There is a viewpoint at the summit of Norra Berget.

Cycling

Södra Berget Bike Arena is located in a northern Swedish forest landscape and offers views of Stenstan at the foot of the mountain. The arena has 19 non-lift-served trails of varying difficulty levels. The trail network includes flow, cross-country and enduro trails.

Water and Relaxation

At Himlabadet in Sundsvall, visitors can surf on the Surfstream. The water park has the Magic Eye, Black Hole and Turbo water slides. The relaxation area includes several saunas, hot and cold pools, an experience shower and a sun terrace with a whirlpool.

Himlabadet is fully accessible, from the entrance and changing facilities to the pool and swimming areas.
