Discover Junsele
Accommodation in Junsele
Junsele combines wildlife experiences, historical insights and varied trails with special moments in nature by the lake and river. Those looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home as a base can tailor their stay to their own interests: with a day at the Djurpark, a hike through forests and landscapes, regional products or activities in the snow and on the water.
Discover animals and share memorable experiences
Junsele Djurpark is home to around 20 different animal species, including white tigers, lemurs, lynx and meerkats. Families who would like to encounter the animals at closer range can enjoy a special insight at Bondgårdens Zoo-skola: together with an animal keeper, children can get to know pigs, sheep, horses, goats and chickens and collect eggs from the hens. During the lemur encounter, visitors enter the enclosure together with an animal keeper, feed the lemurs small treats and receive information about the animals.
History, views and regional specialities
Junsele Hembygdsgård comprises 16 buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is situated high on Kyrkberget and offers views over the Ångermanälven. This complements a stay in which not only experiences in nature but also the history and character of the town play a role.
Regional food is also part of discovering Junsele. Just outside the town centre, Kvarnå Trädgård offers small-scale locally grown vegetables, award-winning food craftsmanship and freshly baked sourdough bread. The farm shop sells products from its own garden crops as well as products made from berries gathered in the forests around Junsele. This may appeal to travellers who would like to combine their holiday days with local culinary experiences.
Hiking trails for different day plans
Naturstigen Junsele runs near the town and conveys the impression of a primeval forest. The approximately 9 km circular trail is marked on stones with orange paint and signposted at the campsite in Junsele. Those who prefer a longer tour can take the “Byarna runt i Junsele” circular hiking trail, an overall 23 km route through varied terrain. The trail starts and ends in the centre of Junsele, passes a pasture with young cattle and a bird sanctuary with an observation tower, and can also be ridden by mountain bike.
These differences make it easier to choose the right focus for your holiday: centrally located accommodation may be appealing for the circular trail that starts and ends in the town centre, while other travellers may wish to focus their stay more on nature, the wildlife park or quiet days. Junsele offers good accommodation options near various leisure facilities and other recreational opportunities.
Water and winter at the holiday destination
Galaxen, a raft covering more than 300 m², is located on Betarsjön. Canoes can be rented and paddling trips undertaken on Betarsjön and the Röån. This creates another opportunity to experience Junsele from the water. During the cold season, Hamptjärnsberget has a slalom ski slope with two runs; cross-country ski trails are located below Hamptjärnsberget. Depending on the holiday experience you are looking for, you can therefore pay particular attention to proximity to the leisure activities that are important to you when searching for accommodation.
