Vånga is located at the northern end of Lake Ivösjön in the northern part of Kristianstad Municipality. The village combines lakeside areas, a cultural landscape, hiking trails, winter sports and historical traces into a destination with an unusual variety of facets. If you are looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Vånga, you can base your choice on whether water, nature, activity, history or regional specialities should be the focus of your trip.

Lakeside areas, cultural landscape and distinctive nature

Vånga’s bathing area is located on the shore of Lake Ivösjön. The village roads and farm tracks of Vånga lead through the cultural landscape and play an important role in outdoor recreation. The area is characterised by large orchards established at an early stage. Around Rystorp to the west and near Snäckestad to the southeast, there is beech forest on older, wooded common land.

A distinctive landscape awaits you in the nearby Svartetorp Nature Reserve at the northern tip of Vångaberget. It features natural forest, numerous large glacial erratics and steep slopes. An easy, unmarked path offers another opportunity to explore this natural area. The so-called Vångagranite is also quarried at Vångaberget. The red stone is generally used as decorative stone and adds a geological detail to the area’s natural features.

Hiking and winter sports with different focuses

Vångaleden is a marked hiking trail in Vånga and is just over 10 kilometres long. Along the route, you pass historical remains, including the iron mines at Tolskepp. This allows you to combine a longer hike with insights into the history of the landscape. Take the trail length into account when planning your day and choose your accommodation according to the type of experience you want to focus on during your stay.

Vångabacken is the main destination for winter sports. The ski area offers skiing on three runs with different levels of difficulty. Vångabacken also has a separate children’s slope with its own lift. This allows families to take the interests of different age groups into account when planning an active day, without inferring further characteristics of the ski area from the children’s facilities.

Historic sites and regional specialities

Vånga also has notable cultural traces away from its trails and slopes. Juteboda dates back to the 16th century and is an older farmstead with two well-preserved buildings. One of them is a smokehouse with ridge posts. Vånga Church also combines different periods: its oldest parts date from the 13th century, while it acquired its present appearance in 1867.

The history of the landscape is also reflected in the development of fruit growing. With the establishment of more organised commercial fruit growing, fruit-packing facilities were established in the Vånga area. Today, the family-run Vångamust represents another regional speciality: apples hand-picked and grown according to strict organic principles are made into apple cider there. The farm is located on the slope of Vångaberget by Lake Ivösjön.

The right accommodation for planning your trip

When looking for a holiday apartment in Vånga, it is worth first deciding on your preferred travel rhythm. Those who appreciate water and peaceful days can include Lake Ivösjön and the bathing area in their plans. For active days on holiday, the Vångaleden, the paths through the cultural landscape or winter sports at Vångabacken can serve as thematic focuses. If you are interested in history and regional products, you can plan the church, Juteboda, the iron mines and Vångamust as different destinations.
