Arjeplog offers several distinctive highlights: Just outside the town lies Galtispuoda, an easily accessible low mountain rising 800 meters above sea level; from there, you can enjoy expansive views over Arjeplog’s waterways and mountains.

Culture

In the center of Arjeplog at Torget square, the Silver Museum is located next to National Road 95, the Silvervägen. The Silversalen exhibition includes nearly 700 Sámi silver objects dating from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Mujttalus presents Sámi life during celebrations and in everyday life. Every summer, the Silver Museum offers guided tours of Doktorsgården, the former residence of Dr. Einar Wallquist, founder of the Silver Museum.

The Sofia Magdalena Church was built between 1763 and 1767 according to plans by master builder Lars Ersson Sundström, with Johan Tengmark constructing it as a cross-shaped wooden church with arms of equal length. Arjeplog Church stands on a peninsula in Lake Hornavan, directly next to Arjeplog’s marketplace, and is open to visitors during the day. Arjeplog’s winter market dates back to 1642 and remains a meeting place for community, reunions and trade.

The nearby cottage site in Adolfström is open to the public. There is an exhibition house with models and photographs about mining at Nasafjäll and transporting the ore to the smelting works in Adolfström.

Nature

The nearby Märkberget Nature Reserve encompasses Märkberget and the fast-flowing Märkforsen rapids on the Laisälven River. The reserve has an approximately 1.5-kilometer-long trail along the rapids that leads to a shelter and a fire pit. Fishing opportunities are available along the Vaukaleden, accessible from pedestrian bridges in the center of Arjeplog. The municipality of Arjeplog also has eight fly-fishing stretches with a total length of 105 kilometers. The municipality provides excursion guides to hiking trails and peaks.

Winter

Guided snowmobile tours and snowmobile rentals are available in Arjeplog. Visitors can choose from 1,600 kilometers of groomed snowmobile trails and routes. On ice-fishing tours, the fishing spot is reached by a large sled pulled by a snowmobile.

Djuptjärn has illuminated cross-country ski trails measuring 1, 2.5, 5 and 20 kilometers. Öberget has a 2.5-kilometer illuminated cross-country ski trail. Galtis is one of the two alpine ski areas listed for Arjeplog.
