Discover Hallaryd
Accommodation in Hallaryd
Hallaryd combines a distinctive parish setting with riverside paths, nature experiences and cycling excursions. The church surroundings lie in hilly terrain that slopes down towards the Helge å and the Lillån. If, when choosing a holiday apartment, you are looking not only for accommodation but also for a suitable base for a variety of holiday days, Hallaryd can be experienced through culture, activity and tranquil landscapes.
Parish centre and historical impressions
Hallaryds kyrkby has preserved much of the irregular character of older parish centres. The buildings have largely retained their features from around the turn of the century. This makes Hallaryds kyrkby one of the few parish centres of its kind in the county. The village setting therefore offers its own way of engaging with the history of the place, without requiring you to limit your stay to a single excursion destination.
The Hallaryd Church is also part of the cultural experience. It was built of stone in 1862–1863 in the Neoclassical style, based on plans by the architect Ludvig Hedin. Two kilometres west of Hallaryd, there is also a cultural trail with information boards about Hallarum. The short Kärleksstigen cultural trail runs along the river and begins at Hallaryd Heritage Park. These different options can be chosen according to your interests: at times the focus may be on the historic village setting, while at others it may be on the connection between the path and the river landscape.
Paths for active and quieter days
For shorter exercise sessions, two walking loops of 1.5 and 3 km respectively begin at the sports field in Hallaryd. Another nature experience is provided by the Hallaryd nature trail, which runs along the Helge å and through the forest. The trail is marked with yellow arrows and markings on the trees. This allows you to vary your daily plans between a short loop and a longer stay in the landscape, without losing sight of the area's cultural attractions.
There are also special experiences along the waterway. Hallarydsforsen is an approximately 700-metre-long fly-fishing stretch with catch-and-release fishing; it begins at the road bridge in Hallaryd. In the Hallaryd–Visseltofta fish conservation area, it is possible to fly-fish for trout. Fishing permits for this area can be purchased online or at the Älmhult Municipality service centre. For travellers who like to combine their stay with a specific nature-related theme, this information provides a clear basis for planning.
Explore Hallaryd by bicycle
Hallarydsrundan is a 29 km-long, easy cycling circuit along the Helge å, leading from Småland to Skåne and back. The route can, for example, be started at the church in Hallaryd. A stone arch bridge at Kornberga kvarn allows cyclists to take a shortcut across the Helge å. Kornberga kvarn is also a pleasant place to stop for a picnic brought from home. There is a seasonal toilet there from 1 May to 30 September.
When looking for accommodation, you can therefore consider whether your trip should be shaped primarily by the historic village centre, walking and nature trails, or a cycling tour. Hallaryd offers several specific starting points for this: the cultural trail west of the village, Kärleksstigen along the river, the nature trail, fishing opportunities and Hallarydsrundan. Hallarydsdagen takes place every year in June and complements the seasonal impressions with a recurring event in the village.
