In the surrounding area, Vinberg reveals another side of the landscape: open spaces, deciduous forests and flowing waterways. The prehistoric sites and nature activities along the Vinån offer different ways to spend your time, from cultural history to trails and fishing. If you are considering Tågarp as a travel destination, you can first decide which interests should shape your holiday plans.

Early traces around Tågarp

An archaeological report from 2024 describes the remains of a settlement from the pre-Roman Iron Age at Tågarp 5:2. A total of 22 hearths were also discovered in the archaeological investigation area. This puts both the dating and a specific archaeological finding at the heart of the area’s early history.

About 250 metres south of L2023:846, in the surrounding area, lies the site L2021:2546, interpreted as the remains of a ploughed-over burial mound. The prehistoric settlement L1996:253 is located about 400 metres south of L2023:846. Thus, a finding interpreted as a burial mound and a site identified as a settlement are found side by side.

The ancient monument L2023:846 may form the edge of a larger prehistoric settlement. Its further extent may lie to the north and northwest of the preliminary investigation area. Historical map overlays identify the location as Rökelsehögsbacke and the land as Rökelsehög.

The collection of the National Historical Museums lists Tågarp as the findspot of the archaeological find L1996:310. A thin-necked stone axe from Tågarp in Vinberg is also recorded. Alongside the settlement remains, historical names and individual archaeological finds offer further points of interest for anyone curious about the area’s past.

Trails, landscapes and fishing in Vinberg

Near Tågarp, Vinberg is a nature-rich area with open spaces, deciduous forests and flowing waterways. The Vinberg Nature Reserve has a 1.5-kilometre illuminated jogging and walking loop. Two nature trails, Alslingan and Träskstigen, run along the Vinån. The loop’s length and lighting give it a different character from the two trails that follow the river. When planning your day, you can consider whether a specific loop length or the stated connection to the Vinån matters more to you.

There are good fishing opportunities along the Vinån in the Vinberg Nature Reserve. Vinbergs golfklubb sells fishing permits for fishing in the Vinån. This makes fishing a distinct activity to plan for, alongside the walking and nature trails.
