Rättvik lies on the eastern shore of Lake Siljan and combines cultural history with experiences in nature. A 1,200-metre-long sandy beach, paths through the Enån Nature Reserve and special excursion destinations make the town a versatile base for your trip. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment in Rättvik can tailor their stay to their own interests, choosing between the lake, landscapes, music and regional culture.

Culture and History in Rättvik

An exceptional destination is Dalhalla, an open-air stage in an old limestone quarry. Visits are only possible as part of guided tours or concerts; independent tours of the site are not possible. Dalhalla's concert buses depart from Rättvik. This makes it possible to include a concert in your travel plans without having to change your accommodation base.

Rättviks Gammelgård consists of around 30 buildings from different periods and different villages within the parish. Visitors can walk among the buildings. The historic collection includes a unique wool basket with Viking ornaments, which originates from Västbjörka and dates from the 13th century. At Café Nyfiket at Rättviks Gammelgård, local and predominantly organically produced ingredients are used for fika and lunch.

Rättviks kulturhus brings together a library, a picture archive, an art gallery and a natural history museum. Rättviks konsthall mainly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and works of craftsmanship by Swedish and international artists. Rättviks naturmuseum presents the formation of the region around Lake Siljan and guides visitors through history from the formation of the Earth to the present day. Folkmusikens hus produces professional concert and dance programmes.

Landscape, Trails and Activities

The Enån Nature Reserve offers various starting points for hikes. The Rättvik–Dalhalla hiking trail passes through the reserve with its interesting flora and wildlife. A trail also runs nearby from the Jarlområdet in the southwest of the nature reserve to Springkällan; it is a little more than 4 kilometres long each way. The Enåns kanotled is marked in the water on both sides of the riverside path with canoeing signs.

The Siljansleden also showcases a varied landscape. The Jarlstugan–Ensro section crosses heathlands of national interest and passes ponds with crystal-clear water, the Enån/Draggån watercourse and Springkällan. Those who prefer cycling can choose the Dalhallarundan: it starts and ends at Rättvik travel centre. For a more leisurely activity, Rättviks golfbana is also available as an 18-hole parkland and woodland course.

Rättvik as a Base

Rättvik can be reached directly by train or bus. This is a practical aspect when choosing accommodation, especially if you want to combine various ideas for day trips. You can include cultural destinations, hiking trails, waterscapes and music events in your plans while using Rättvik as a fixed base. For handicrafts, Nittsjö keramik is one of the regional points of interest: it looks back on a 100-year pottery tradition, and various stoneware and earthenware products are produced there today; seconds are also sold.

For another local destination, you can also take a look at Boda Kyrkby. Other places to include in your own travel plans are Furudal, Enviken, Bäck, Böda and Vikarbyn.
