Enviken combines vibrant local culture with forests, hiking trails and fascinating insights into the region’s history. With churches from different periods, 1950s culture and nature experiences around Våckelberget, it offers a destination with plenty of opportunities for varied holiday days. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment can make their preferred type of trip the starting point when choosing accommodation: Should the trip primarily combine culture, outdoor activities, water experiences or seasonal traditions?

Churches, 1950s culture and regional history

Among the area’s notable cultural attractions are Envikens kyrka, consecrated in 1957, and Envikens gamla kyrka, dating from 1671. The old church is used for weddings, christenings and summer entertainment events. This means that two different historical points of reference stand side by side in Enviken, fitting easily into a culturally focused travel itinerary.

A completely different side of the village is revealed by its vibrant 1950s culture, with rockabilly, a record studio, a petrol station, a café, a hair salon, a vintage shop and cars. The forest museum at Görasgården provides insights into forestry in the Enviken region from the 1850s until mechanisation around 1960. Görasgården’s local heritage association also organises Midsummer celebrations and the Göras Days, featuring various activities and café refreshments; Görasgården is open during Advent.

Hiking on Våckelberget and views of Balungen

In the Våckelberget nature reserve, an approximately 1.5 km hiking trail leads from the lower car park to the rest area. For the final section, you can choose between Skogsleden and Klippleden. This route option can be taken into account when planning the day if you want to combine time at the rest area with different trail sections. From the top of the mountain, there are extensive views of Lake Balungen and the surrounding bluish mountains on the horizon.

The plant life also makes the area interesting. The Våckelberget nature reserve and the forests of Våckelberget are home to, among other species, lime trees, maple, hazel, broad-leaved mercury, herb-robert, wood meadow-grass, Solomon’s seal and mullein. These species are more common in southern Sweden. For travellers interested in nature, this provides a specific reason to pay attention not only to the trail but also to the regional vegetation.

Water, pilgrimage trail and seasonal experiences

The Balungen–Runn canoe trail begins at Balungstrand. Anyone wishing to fish will find Marnäsån among the waters near Enviken where fishing is good; a fishing licence is required. Enviken also includes, for example, a section of the old pilgrimage trail. This allows active days on the water, on foot or with a cultural focus to be planned in different ways.

Enviksdagen takes place on a Saturday in May and includes, among other things, a classic car rally, a flea market and activities for children. At Grejsans fäbodar, there are traditional Swedish mountain goats from around Midsummer and throughout the height of summer, as well as the production and limited small-scale sale of fäbod products. Especially for a trip with children, such seasonal dates and encounters with regional traditions can add personal experiences to the stay.
