Discover Norje: Festival, Beach and Historical Traces
Accommodation in Norje
Norje combines a festival with a beach, cycle paths and historical evidence. Every June, the Sweden Rock Festival brings 40,000 fans from all over the world to Norje for four days. The festival moved to its current home in Norje, Sölvesborg, in 1998. Anyone planning a trip around music therefore has a clear reason to choose their travel dates and can also get to know other sides of the village.
Beach, water and relaxing holiday days
Norje havsbad has a sandy beach and a bathing jetty. Showers, toilets and a barbecue area are also available at this location. Norje is also one of Sölvesborg's six municipal beaches, which are maintained by the municipality during the summer season. This combination makes the village interesting for different kinds of day plans: time by the water can be followed by an excursion, a cycling tour or a look at Norje's historical traces.
Norje Boke Camping also offers various documented options on site: pitches, camping, glamping and holiday cabins. There is also a seaside miniature golf course with 12 holes, as well as motorboat rentals with engines of 8 hp or 25 hp.
History between the courthouse and the stone bridge
Norje Tingshus served as the courthouse for Listers härad from 1795 to 1918. Norje's former court district is also associated with an old inn complex, whose large stone barns are still standing. The cells in which prisoners were held have been preserved in the former prison. Together with the bridge from the 18th century, this creates a historical focal point made up of several different examples of historical evidence. The bridge has an intricately designed cast-iron railing and is illuminated during the traditional Julkväll. Torches are lit at this annual event, which is also supported by shops and craftspeople.
Cycle paths and the Vesan landscape
For active days, the municipal cycle route Vesan runt runs in stages from Sölvesborg in the south via Kylinge in the north to Norje in the east. The eastern green section is connected to Sydostleden; this also provides a connection to the Listerlandet cycle route. From Norje, you can follow the Vesankanalen westwards and experience the Vesan landscape. In the Vesan area outside Sölvesborg, remains of a 9,000-year-old fermentation facility were found, considered the oldest of its kind in the Nordic region.
Which location suits your trip?
If the Sweden Rock Festival is the main focus, the festival dates are the most important planning factor. For a holiday with a beach, miniature golf or boats, Norje havsbad and Norje Boke Camping become the centre of the desired experiences. Anyone who prefers to combine historical sites and cycle paths can take the former courthouses, the stone bridge and Vesan runt into consideration. When searching for a holiday apartment or holiday home, this distinction helps you choose accommodation according to your preferred holiday pace.
