Hörvik: Fishing Village with Coastal Views
Accommodation in Hörvik
Hörvik is a fishing village on a coastline with many small coves. Hörvik’s bathing beach, a small sandy beach between Hörvik and Krokås, gives the village a tangible connection to the water. At the same time, the village is shaped by a modern fishing industry and some surviving older buildings. This combination of coastal scenery and fishing history makes Hörvik interesting for travellers who want to discover the character of an established fishing village as well as its beach.
Views between Hanö Bay and the Baltic Sea
The Listershuvud and Spraglehall nature reserves are in the area around Hörvik. The summit of Listershuvud is 84 metres above sea level and offers sweeping views over Hanö Bay and Listerlandet. The highest point of Spraglehall is 25 metres above sea level and offers views over Listerlandet and the Baltic Sea. You can reach Spraglehall Nature Reserve by taking the road from Hörvik through Krokås to the end of the road. The summits differ in both elevation and the views described: Listershuvud is higher, while the views from Spraglehall also include the Baltic Sea.
Beach and bathing water
Hörvik’s bathing beach has a toilet and a barbecue area; there is a playground nearby. For the 2026 bathing season, the bathing water quality was rated excellent. If the playground is important to your plans, check its condition in person, as facilities can change. The beach lies between Hörvik and the smaller fishing village of Krokås, providing a clear reference point for the village’s coastal location.
Fishing history and things to do in the village
For a long time, Hörvik was Lister’s largest eel-fishing village. Today, the village is shaped by a modern fishing industry, while some of its older buildings have survived. Hörvik has almost grown together with Krokås, a smaller fishing village with its own harbour. You can book a guided village walk for your own group through Sölvesborg Tourist Information. In summer, Hörviks Glass och Gott (MandelochMandel) runs an ice cream stand right by the sea in Hörvik. Hörvik is also designated as a recreation area along the Cykelled Listerlandet cycle route.
Choose the right focus for your stay
