Discover Kyrkhult: Culture, Trails and Lakes
Accommodation in Kyrkhult
Kyrkhult combines historic cultural sites with waterside trails and a variety of options for active or diverse holiday days. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Kyrkhult will find useful points of reference here when choosing the right place to stay: culture around Tulseboda Brunn, short trails such as Kyrkhults motionsslinga, longer hikes and bathing spots by the lakes.
Tulseboda Brunn and Kyrkhult’s Cultural History
Tulseboda Brunn was once a popular spa resort and was highly significant to the development of the Kyrkhult region. Today, Tulseboda Brunnspark is a historic visitor attraction in Kyrkhult. Gravel paths wind through densely leafy trees around the main building. The restaurant building at Tulseboda Brunn, built in 1894, is now Tulseboda Kulturhus. Tulseboda Brunn also serves as a cultural centre with a circus school, exhibitions and an event venue.
Families can enjoy activities at Cirkusparken such as juggling, acrobatics, tightrope balancing, trapeze stunts and climbing in aerial silks. Those interested in local history and art can also include Kyrkhults kyrka in their plans. The large three-nave stone church was consecrated in 1865. The altarpiece was created locally in 1867 and painted by the artist Bengt Nordenberg, who came from the region. The cemetery features, among other works, the sculptures “Ansgar välsignar Norden” and “Efter dagsverket” by Carl Eldh.
Hiking Trails for Different Day Plans
Fornebodaleden is a 3.4-kilometre hiking trail around Fornebodasjön. Its starting point is in Strandparken in Tulseboda Brunnspark, Kyrkhult. The trail connects the cultural environments of Tulseboda Brunnspark and Forneboda Kulturbrunn. This makes it possible to combine a hike with historical impressions without spending the entire day visiting cultural sites.
A shorter option is Kyrkhults motionsslinga: this very easy, 2.5-kilometre hiking trail lies on the edge of the village. The illuminated running and training track Kyrkhults begins at the Kyrkhult parking area and initially follows the western part of Södersjön. It also passes Tulseboda Brunnspark and Kyrkhults Hembygdsmuseum. The museum is housed in the former doctor’s villa, an outbuilding of Tulseboda Brunn built in 1889.
Those planning a longer hike can consider the fourth stage of Blekingeleden. It leads from Halens Camping to Tulseboda Brunnspark, is 20.5 kilometres long, takes 6–8 hours and ends in Kyrkhult at Tulseboda Brunnspark. These different routes help you choose accommodation according to your preferred travel pace: short village loops, a compact lake circuit or a long stage can each shape the day’s itinerary.
Lakes, Bathing Spot and Special Buildings
Södersjön bathing spot is located in Kyrkhult, directly next to Tulseboda Brunn and Brunnspark. For a stay combining culture and water, this connection provides a concrete point of reference when looking for a holiday apartment in Kyrkhult. Fornebodastugan stands by Gårdssjön and is a unique raised summerhouse from the 19th century in Kyrkhult. Alma Gauffin built Fornebodastugan after falling in love with Gårdssjön.
This allows you to shape your stay in different ways: one day can take you to historic buildings and art, another along Fornebodaleden or the motionsslinga, while Tulseboda Brunnspark and Södersjön provide additional destinations for planning your days.
