History

In the Germanells area, centuries-old archaeological remains indicate the origin of the first human settlement in Museros. An ancient connecting route between Sagunt and València was developed by the Romans into an important road. A former Dominican monastery was founded in 1471. A plain Baroque building is designed according to the model of the so-called Conquest Churches. The history of Museros therefore encompasses archaeological traces, a Roman-developed transport route, the historic founding of a monastery and a more specifically identifiable Baroque architectural form. These remains offer different temporal, geographical, religious and architectural perspectives, each of which can be read independently.

Festivals and Cultural Sites

Museros's patron saint festivals are celebrated in honour of Saint Roch around 16 August. During the August patron saint festivals, processions take place at a hermitage. In Museros, the festival in honour of Sant Vicent Ferrer is celebrated on the Monday after Easter. In addition to these two festivals held on specific dates, a house also forms part of the town's cultural heritage: The house served the author as a place of rest and retreat. Important documents belonging to the author are kept in the house. In this way, the festival calendar, religious sites and the memory of an author are connected with the landscape and history themes of Museros.
