El Grau De Castelló: Lighthouse, Museums and Nature
Culture and History
El Grau De Castelló is home to the El far del Grau lighthouse, an octagonal tower made of dressed stone blocks with a balcony, tower structure and lantern. It is part of the maritime signalling system and was first lit on 22 July 1917.
The Museu de la Mar features a permanent exhibition with 274 exhibits and more than 70 photographs relating to boats, plans, tools, everyday objects and fishing equipment. Exhibition panels, exhibits and models allow visitors to take a self-guided tour; the visit lasts 45 minutes.
The Planetari Castelló was the first building of its kind in the Comunitat Valenciana and is an important centre for science communication. It is located on the Mediterranean at the beginning of the Passeig Marítim and has a 25-metre-high white dome.
The various cultural themes and formats can be considered separately and compared with one another when planning your own itinerary.
When choosing a holiday apartment in El Grau De Castelló, travel dates, the type of accommodation or room, and cancellation conditions can provide an objective basis for comparison. The accommodation decision remains separate from the local attractions: maritime history, science communication, nature, routes and beaches stand alongside one another as distinct thematic focuses.
Nature and Routes
Centuries-old pine trees grow in Parc del Pinar; the park is also home to numerous bird species and one of the largest colonies of red squirrels in the province.
Parc del Pinar has an area for paellas and barbecues, as well as a municipal swimming pool that is open in summer.
El Grao can be explored on foot or by bicycle; points of interest include Plaza del Mar and Club Náutico.
The local attractions can therefore be viewed according to different focuses: nature and routes form one area, while the maritime and scientific themes provide other points of emphasis. For personal travel planning, these areas can be weighted independently without assuming a particular order or a fixed programme.
