Trails and Landscape
The Benijófar–Guardamar del Segura route can be completed on foot or by bicycle along an approximately 11-kilometre stretch from Plaza de la Constitución to the Guardamar lighthouse. The SL-CV 135 trail passes without difficulty through the agricultural landscapes of Benijófar and is of cultural interest. The Benijófar–Parque Natural de las Lagunas de La Mata–Moncayo–Guardamar–Rojales route follows the cycle path towards Torrevieja and the Lagunas de la Mata. Different trail lengths and means of transport make it possible to balance exercise, landscape and culture within your own daily itinerary.
The trails therefore differ in their focus: one connects Benijófar with Guardamar and the lighthouse, while the other follows the cycle path towards the Lagunas de la Mata. Together with the SL-CV 135 trail, they offer different ways to experience the agricultural landscape and cultural landmarks.
Culture and History
The Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol is Benijófar’s most representative building and a central part of the municipality’s history and culture. It preserves Baroque elements, including six altarpieces and a custodia made of glass, silver and gilded silver. Outside the town centre, the Noria Árabe stands in a meander on the right bank of the Río Segura. It was built in 1659 and is catalogued at local level as an Asset of Cultural Interest because of its historical-artistic, architectural and hydrological character.
Nature
El Secano is an ecological recreational park in an old meander of the Río Segura near Benijófar. It features plantings of native trees, picnic tables with benches and barbecue areas. The Río Segura irrigates the cultivated areas of Benijófar and forms a species-rich river ecosystem in its final stretch; waterfowl, amphibians, reptiles, insects and fish can be observed there.
Cuisine and Festivals
Benijófar’s festive cuisine includes cocido con pelotas and arroz con conejo y serranas. The patron saint festivities take place in July in honour of San Jaime and in December for the Purísima; the traditional Patatá is part of the San Jaime celebrations. At an event in Benijófar, up to 25 typical dishes from different European countries can be sampled.

A park is planned for Cañada Marsá on an area of 125,000 m², with sensory gardens, lakes, vegetation areas featuring native species, a sports trail, cycling areas, an exercise area and an open-air theatre.
