Culture
The Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Rosario has a rectangular floor plan and two towers of different sizes at its entrance; it was built in 1831. Its clear form and the differing towers give the church a distinctive architectural profile.
The Santuario a la Virgen del Pilar began as a hermitage in 1941 and became a sanctuary in 1980. The Santuario de Nuestra Señora del Pilar is visited by pilgrims throughout the year. Festivals
The Romería del Pilar was recognised as a festival of provincial tourist interest in 2010. On 12 October, participants cover almost two kilometres between the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Rosario in the town centre and the Santuario de Nuestra Señora del Pilar in the Sierra de Benejúzar.
The Romería del Pilar includes folklore, cultural and traditional activities, concerts, serenades and activities for children. Benejúzar’s patron saint festival, Fiestas de Mayo, takes place during the week of Corpus Christi in honour of the Virgen del Rosario.
