IrriSarri Land offers three zip lines. One of them is 900 metres long and is considered the longest in Navarre. There are also six themed routes: a landscape route, an adventure route, a sensory route, a mythological route, the Natura Route and the “In Search of Baxi” Route.
The hiking route from Igantzi to San Juan Xar is 5.03 kilometres long, classified as easy and follows a circular route. It is considered a short, wide path with hardly any incline. Different distances, route types and trail characteristics help you organise active days according to your preferred pace. You can weigh the topics mentioned independently, depending on whether you are planning an active, nature-focused or cultural day.
Nature
San Juan Xar is a nature reserve; it is home to one of the few places on the Iberian Peninsula where European hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) grows naturally.
The pilgrimage to San Juan Xar in Igantzi takes place on 24 June and includes a Mass and a spring ritual. A sculpture of a shepherd is located in the grotto of San Juan Xar. The water from the San Juan Xar spring is considered to have healing properties.
Culture
The Church of San Miguel has a Baroque high altar featuring a depiction of Saint Michael from the 18th century. It also preserves an altarpiece dedicated to Saint John the Baptist from the late 17th century, with Solomonic columns decorated with grapes.
Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross, and the church has ribbed vaults. The interior was extensively remodelled during the Baroque period.
Elizatea stands next to the church in Igantzi’s village square. The oldest written references to the house date back to the 16th century. Elizatea is one of the oldest houses in the centre of Igantzi.
The Ermita de la Piedad is located 500 metres from the centre of Igantzi, at the highest point in the village. Its façade dates from 1555.
Cycling and Walks
The Vía Verde del Bidasoa passes through the Berrizaun district of Igantzi and was mainly developed for cycling. It is considered a route without difficulties or inclines for walks and family hikes.
