Culture
The Museo Casa-Cueva has six rooms distributed between a front and a rear section. The municipality had this cave restored in 2006 because of its anthropological and historical value.
The furnishings and objects in the house were donated by local residents and date from the period depicted. The building was created with the aim of recovering, preserving and showcasing the way of life of earlier generations.
A building was erected in the first half of the 19th century on the site of an earlier church. The parish church of Santos Niños Justo y Pastor is considered a clear example of a Madrid Baroque church and the most important monument in the municipality of Tielmes.
Traditions
El Judas takes place on Easter Sunday and has been documented in Tielmes since the 17th century. After El Judas, it is traditional to “correr el hornazo,” eating a typical regional cake made from flour, egg and sugar, decorated in the center with one or more boiled eggs.
The pilgrimage of San Isidro takes place on May 15 and runs from the parish church to the hermitage dedicated to the saint at the foot of several hills. During this pilgrimage, participants are offered rosquillas and lemonade to sample.
The celebration in honor of the Santos Niños has been documented in Tielmes since at least 1616 and includes a procession with the images of the saints through the town on the main Sunday.
