Saucelle: Viewpoints on the Duero, Nature Trails and Holiday Apartments

Saucelle can be discovered through specific landscape scenes. The Mirador del Salto de Saucelle is located on the road connecting Saucelle with the Salto de Saucelle. From this viewpoint, there is a wide view over the valley where the Huebra River flows into the Duero. The viewpoint has seating, explanatory landscape murals and an area suitable for parking cars.

Nature

Another viewpoint is located on the road leading downhill from Saucelle to the Salto de Saucelle: the Picón del Moro is about 6 kilometres from the town. It consists of a large balcony on a granite rock outcrop. From the Picón del Moro, you can look out over the Duero between the Saucelle Dam and the La Barca de Vilvestre landing stage.

Trails

The trails also give the landscape its own spatial interpretation. The Senda del Duero (GR-14) passes through Saucelle on its way from Mieza and Vilvestre, continuing towards Lumbrales. The GR-14 section from Saucelle to Hinojosa de Duero is 21 kilometres long and takes approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes.

The accessible ornithological viewpoint Mirador de Las Janas is 1,800 metres from the start of the Las Lavanderas trail. It includes an access road and a car park.

Culture

On 10 August, Saucelle celebrates a festival in honour of its patron saint, San Lorenzo, which usually lasts around five days. The San Lorenzo festivities include bull runs, bullfights, dance events, sporting and cultural activities, as well as a procession in honour of San Lorenzo.
