Sancti-Spíritus: Church, Rivers and Chabarcos

Sancti-Spíritus offers a varied perspective on history, landscapes and local traditions. At the centre is the parish church of Sancti-Spíritus, which was built around 1475, has been preserved and restored, and was transferred by the diocese to the Town Hall of Sancti-Spíritus.

Culture and History

The parish church features a Mudéjar ensemble. A horseshoe arch separates its apse from the nave. Bullfighting events are part of the Corpus Christi celebrations in Sancti-Spíritus. The Carreros de Fuenterroble estate includes a house museum dedicated to the history of cattle farming in Salamanca over the past 150 years. Water and Landscape

The Gavilanes River crosses the municipality of Sancti-Spíritus; the Yeltes touches it to the east. The Chabarcos have a special local designation: they are water-filled hollows used locally for recreation, swimming, fishing and birdwatching.

Transport and Local Connections

The A-62 runs close to Sancti-Spíritus. The railway line is located about one kilometre from the town, but the station is no longer in operation. A regular passenger service from El Pilar connected Sancti-Spíritus with Ciudad Rodrigo and Salamanca.
