Riverscape

On the Cea River stands the Romanesque Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias, 100 metres downstream from the bridge in Puente Almuhey. The Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias is a Romanesque chapel from the 12th century.

History

La Muria stands next to the Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias at the former location where the former municipalities of Valderrueda, Renedo de Valdetuéjar and La Vega de Almanza met. The hermitage is near the former Hospital de Puente de Muey, which belonged to the Order of Malta. Historically, Puente Almuhey was a typical crossroads of routes and the Cea and Tuéjar rivers, with a bridge, a church, a hospital and a mill to support poor people and travellers. A stop on the “El Hullero” railway is preserved in Puente Almuhey.

Trails

A 20-kilometre trail leads from Puente Almuhey to the Ruta Vadiniense and connects with it. The connection from Puente Almuhey to the Ruta Vadiniense runs for 10 kilometres to the Santuario de La Velilla and another 10 kilometres to Fuentes de Peñacorada. A walking trail from Puente Almuhey runs along the Tuéjer River and is 10 kilometres long up to the Santuario de La Velilla. In addition, stage 10A of the Camino Olvidado runs from Guardo to Puente Almuhey. The different trail lengths help you compare shorter and longer plans.
