Culture

The Iglesia de San Esteban de Corullón was consecrated on 16 December 1086; its portal bears certain similarities to the Portada de las Platerías of Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. The Iglesia de San Pedro is a church of Romanesque origin in the upper part of Corullón, near the castle.

Tungsten was discovered at Peña del Seo in 1940; around 1947, a processing plant with a roller mill, washing table and sieve was built there.

The route to Convento Cabeza de Alba connects the Iglesia de San Esteban with centuries-old chestnut groves, vineyards and cherry trees.

The Río Burbia is considered a trout river and winds through Corullón in broad meanders across pastureland, among trees and fruit-bearing vegetation.

Trails

Los cerezos de San Juan is an easy, 3 km circular route lasting approximately 45 minutes. Los cerezos de San Martín is a 1.98 km circular route of moderate difficulty, lasting approximately 30 minutes.

The route to Peña del Seo begins in Cadafresnas, passes through the former mining settlement of La Piela and reaches Peña del Seo through a landscape combining history and mountain panoramas.

The two circular routes can be compared by their length, approximate duration and difficulty level; the route to Peña del Seo has a different thematic focus.

For a day plan, you can consider sacred history, monuments and mining history separately from chestnut groves, vineyards, cherry trees and the river landscape.
