Combarro – Historic Town Centre and Coast

Combarro preserves a traditional urban structure. This structure has remained almost completely intact. The town’s buildings are made entirely of granite and have likewise remained almost completely intact.
Culture
The historic and artistic town centre of Combarro includes old fishermen’s houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Their stone balconies, known as solanas, project over the side entrances.
Combarro has a total of seven stone granite crosses. These crosses were erected between the 18th and 20th centuries. Their dates of origin therefore span several centuries of the town’s history.
On Corpus Christi, floral decorations adorn the streets of Combarro’s historic complex. The floral decorations also adorn the Camino Real as far as San Bernardo Church. The decorated route therefore runs from the town centre along this historic path to the church.
The Fiesta del Mejillón takes place in Combarro on 15 August. On this occasion, mussels are sampled at Praza da Chousa. Since 1994, the Ateneo Corredoira cultural association has organised this tradition.
The 43rd Semana Cultural e Festiva do San Roque takes place in Combarro. Its programme comprises ten days of cultural, musical, and gastronomic activities for all age groups.
Coast
O Padrón is the beach of Combarro’s historic complex. It is approximately 270 metres long.
A Canteira is a triangular beach in the municipal area of Combarro. This beach is 75 metres long. It is located next to the local pier.
