Arbúcies: Hiking Trails, Festivals and Culture

The Festa de les Enramades was recognised by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1999 as a festival of national interest. This festival includes flower carpets made from petals, designed in advance by those responsible for each individual street. The Festa Major d'Arbúcies comprises cultural, sporting and community activities: open-air concerts, choir gatherings, theatre performances, children's entertainment and sports tournaments. The programme therefore ranges from decorated streetscapes to music, theatre and community sports activities.

Culture

The permanent exhibitions at the Museu Etnològic del Montseny, La Gabella, display material evidence of the communities that have inhabited the Montseny Massif throughout its history. La Farga del Roquer is the interpretation centre for the Riera d'Arbúcies. The building was constructed between 1846 and 1848 as a copper forge. A turbine dating from 1934 is still in operation there; water from the reservoir powers the old transmission system. This building therefore brings together its former use as a copper forge and the preserved technical installation from the 20th century.

At Castell de Montsoriu, visitors can explore the rooms in the castle's three walled areas. The complex also includes the Capella de la Mare de Déu de la Pietat, which was built in 1717 and expanded in 1785. The castle thus combines several clearly identifiable construction phases within its walled areas.

Hiking and Cycling

The PR-C 201 leads from Arbúcies to Castell de Montsoriu and is 8.4 kilometres long. The circular route to Salt de la Dona d'Aigua starts at the Polideportivo de Can Pons, passes through lush, damp woodland and reaches the waterfall. It is considered suitable for the whole family. The route is considered easy; however, there is a moderately difficult section at the access point to the waterfall.

The section of the Tourdera from Arbúcies to Sant Marçal is called Camí Marçaler and is also designated as the local trail SL-C84. It begins at Plaça de la Vila d'Arbúcies and heads southwest along an unpaved track and steep paths. White-and-green SL-C84 markings identify the section; at its end, it connects with the GR-5.2 markings. The route therefore links its start at Plaça de la Vila with two consecutive marking systems.

The Arbúcies–Sant Pere Desplà BTT route is a 16.7-kilometre circular route for mountain bikes. Both the start and finish are at the Pavelló de Can Pons in Arbúcies, so both details refer to the same starting and finishing point of the circular route.

Nature

The Vall d'Arbúcies lies in the middle of Parc Natural del Montseny and Les Guilleries. This location offers a great variety of flora and fauna, as well as Mediterranean and Central European landscapes. Two named natural areas and different landscape characteristics therefore meet in the valley.

Town Walk

The town walk passes over Pont Vermell and along Carrer del Sorrall to the Font de bomba del Bon Humor pump. It is one of the city's six historic fountain pumps. The walk's stops therefore range from a bridge via an urban street to a historic fountain.
