Discover Alcuneza: Church, Saltworks and Trails

The Romanesque church of Alcuneza is dedicated to Saint Peter of Antioch. It is believed to date from the 12th century; San Pedro is considered its patron saint.

Culture

The parish church has 18th-century altarpieces and two naves. Within the rural architectural heritage of the upper Henares valley, it differs from the single-nave layout of the other churches. Its main chapel is polygonal and features a roof structure in the Mudéjar tradition.

The Ermita de la Soledad in Alcuneza is a 17th-century building. The Roman remains in the village include a villa and a gravestone. A Roman road connecting Mérida and Zaragoza ran through the Alcuneza area.
