Nature

Muñorrodero is located on the Ría de Tina Menor. The section of the Senda Fluvial del Nansa near Muñorrodero runs along the banks of the Nansa and passes through riverside woodland as well as the remains of shelters and footbridges that fishermen used to cross the riverbed. At the end of the Senda Fluvial del Nansa lies the Nansa estuary; from there, one option follows the right bank of the Tina Menor to Playa del Sable, while another follows the left bank to the Mirador de Pechón. In Muñorrodero, the start of the Senda Fluvial del Nansa follows the path to the recreational area designated as a car park.

Culture

The Cueva de la Fuente del Salín, also called Cueva del Salón, is classified as a Cultural Asset of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural); it was placed under protection in 2000. It is closed, and access is reserved exclusively for specialists. The Cueva de la Fuente del Salín contains an archaeological site from the Upper Palaeolithic, dated to 22,340 years ago based on radiocarbon dating of a hearth. The Cueva de la Fuente del Salín features rock-art panels with hand negatives, including seven red negative handprints.

In Muñorrodero, the Virgen del Hayedo temple dates from the late 13th or early 14th century and has an apse with Romanesque-style corbels. Nuestra Señora de la Natividad de Muñorrodero was built in 1930. The old mill, dating from the 16th century, belongs together with the new mill to the two surviving historic mills; both use the same hydraulic system.
