Santa Cruz de Bezana: Coastal Trails, Geopark and Culture
Santa Cruz de Bezana is one of the municipalities in the Costa Quebrada Geopark. The municipal Playa de San Juan de la Canal–Arnía route follows a path of approximately 2.7 kilometres along the cliffs from San Juan de la Canal to La Arnía.

Coast and Landscape
The San Juan de la Canal–Arnía route offers views of the Cantabrian Sea and the Tómbolo de Covachos, as well as insights into the diversity of birds along the cliffs. The San Juan de la Canal–Virgen del Mar route uses a stone path, a wooden bridge and a cliffside path leading to Rostrío.
Mediterranean and Atlantic plants such as holm oaks, hazel trees, chestnut trees and oaks grow along the Alto de la Gigüela route. It reaches a summit with a 360° panorama of Santander, its bay and practically the entire municipality of Santa Cruz de Bezana, as well as, in clear weather, the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains and the Picos de Europa.

Routes and Cycling
Encinar de Peñas Negras is a two-kilometre circular route between Parque de la Jaya and Alto de La Jigüela; it has a medium level of difficulty and takes approximately two hours. Las mieses sobre ruedas is an eight-kilometre cycling route between Soto De La Marina and Alto del Lloreo, passing through meadows, cultivated areas and settlements such as Prezanes.
Bezana en E-Bike is a programme with 11 guided e-bike routes through Santa Cruz de Bezana and the surrounding area of the Costa Quebrada Geopark.

Culture and History
The Iglesia de Santa Cruz de Bezana was built between 1905 and 1917 under the direction of Octavio Respuela; the tower was completed in 1923. It has a Neo-Gothic main altarpiece, nine vaults with semicircular and pointed arches, and a rose window on the west façade.
The Molino del Ronzón in Sancibrián retains structural remains and a dam made of ashlar stones. The mill already existed in 1496, operated until 1920 and had been in use for approximately 500 years.
Events
The Festival del Tomate takes place as a recurring municipal event in Santa Cruz de Bezana and is dedicated to local horticulture and its produce. Visitors can visit the stalls of local producers and learn more about the history and distinctive features of tomatoes. The festival includes a food and craft market, the distribution of seeds and a communal meal.
The Hoguera de San Juan is classified as a festival of regional tourist interest. Its programme included a mass at the Ermita de San Juan, music, the theatrical performance “La llama que nos une” and fireworks over the sea.
