Discover Liermo: La Garma, church and hiking routes

In the wider surroundings of Liermo, the La Garma karst complex is an active karst spring with three fossil levels and numerous karst formations. At the summit of the La Garma complex is a Bronze Age and Iron Age hillfort. In the lower section of the Cueva de La Garma, there are also three untouched archaeological sites with numerous painted artistic representations.

Nature

The La Garma route is considered a semi-urban hiking trail. The Liermo–Las Pilas route follows a forest track through a eucalyptus forest. Alongside distances and elevation profiles, you can read such differing route descriptions when organizing your personal plans.

Culture

The Church of San Martín de Liermo is a small single-nave church of Gothic origin. A restored Gothic window in the Church of San Martín de Liermo preserves medieval features. The Fiestas de San Martín de Liermo take place next to the parish church of San Martín in Liermo. Hiking

The Liermo–Las Pilas route is a circular trail that starts at the Church of San Martín de Liermo and returns to the same church. It is 7.54 km long, has 180 m of positive elevation gain, and is rated easy. The Liermo–Güemes–Carriazo–Liermo route is 14.98 km long, has 410 m of positive elevation gain, and is rated easy.

The Las Pilas–Omoño–Pontones–Liermo circular route passes through Las Pilas, Omoño and Pontones and also visits Liermo. The section of this route from Omoño to Liermo follows roads and paths through a lush native forest. A hiking route in the municipality of Ribamontán al Monte starts and ends in Omoño, is 11.6 km long, has 443 m of positive elevation gain, and takes approximately three hours. The different route lengths, elevation gains, circular itineraries and time estimates can be placed side by side for an objective comparison. When finding your way, the circular route, village connections and approximate duration can serve as separate points of comparison.
