The habitats and species of Las Colladillas are protected within the European Natura 2000 network in the Liébana and Río Deva Special Areas of Conservation. Protected and priority species such as the alpine longhorn beetle (Rosalia alpina) and the Cantabrian brown bear (Ursus arctos) occur along Las Colladillas. In inner Liébana, the Casa de la Naturaleza de Pesaguero is associated with Natura 2000. Trails and Activities

The Pueblos de Pesaguero route follows a wooded connection to Lerones. The MTB Center Liébana Valley route Peña Porrera is classified as difficult; according to the roadbook, it runs from Obargo via Lerones to Dosamantes. On the Peña Porrera route, the section from the foot of Peña Porrera to Lerones descends. The route runs predominantly through forests of sessile oak and Pyrenean oak, holm oak and shrubland, as well as across former agricultural areas that are now used as pasture.

The Carrera por Montaña Lerones consists of a 14.6-kilometre circuit from Lerones via Belebaño, Calejo, Obargo and Doyayo, returning to Lerones. A water station is provided halfway along the Carrera por Montaña Lerones. For personal planning, the route, circuit format, distance and difficulty level offer different points of comparison.

Culture

The Iglesia de Lerones has a bell gable considered one of the most monumental in Liébana. A medieval necropolis was discovered near the church of Lerones. On 15 June 2024, the Experiencia lanera en Liébana took place in Lerones, a workshop on sheep farming and wool processing. It provided information about the flock, washing wool, loosening the fibres and an initial carding process, as well as a tasting of sheep's cheese. Archaeology, sacred architecture and wool processing offer different cultural perspectives.

Events

The Feria de ganado de Lerones is scheduled for the last Saturday in October in Lerones (Pesaguero).
