Azpeitia: Culture, Mountains and Railway Museum

Azpeitia is a town of medieval origin. The old town is home to, among other places, the Church of San Sebastián de Soreasu and the Enparan Tower House. The La Soledad Chapel is attached to this church. It is designed entirely in the Renaissance style and features murals of historical and artistic value. Thus, within the old town, medieval local history, a tower house and a clearly identifiable Renaissance chapel stand side by side.

Culture

Those wishing to discover culture in its various forms will find concerts, theatre performances, lectures and art exhibitions at the San Agustin Cultural Centre. The Basque Railway Museum displays more than sixty vehicles that have been fully restored and are operational. The collection therefore combines the number of vehicles with their preserved and functional condition. For several months, visitors have the opportunity to take a steam train ride as part of the Basque Railway Museum. The journey is 5 kilometres long and runs between Azpeitia and Lasao. Its length and the two locations mentioned make the route of the journey clear. The Basilica of Loyola has a 60-metre-high dome.
