Nature

The Cordal de Urbiés P.R. AS-34 route passes along the Recerezal stream and reaches Urbiés through the El Corraldusu district. It also leads to La Campa Les Abeyes, the highest point of the mountain range, which offers panoramic views.

Different trail themes can be viewed alongside one another here: The route follows a specific course through the village and leads to a viewpoint in the mountains, while the landscape area reveals Urbiés's broader natural connections.

Culture

The Camín Real de Urbiés is publicly owned and can be visited. Along this route are Roman place names such as Urbiés and Valeriana, as well as medieval stone-slab graves in San Xusto and Santandrés.

The best section of the Camín Real de Urbiés connects El L.leu in Urbiés with L’Artusu in Turón and San Xusto. The historic route thus passes through several named places and links traces from different eras in one continuous section.

The Puente de Pomar bridge, originally intended for a railway line, is now part of a footpath. Its side passage has been renovated, and a section of track with mine carts has been installed on the bridge girder.

The ethnographic ensemble of La Yana´l Pumar comprises four houses with corredor, stables, a panera and a mill. La Yana´l Pumar is probably considered the valley's most significant ethnographic settlement centre and can be reached via the P.R. AS-350 route.

Getting There

Urbiés can be reached by car via the AS-337 regional road. By public transport, the village is served by EMUTSA route 1.1.

Cuisine

The Certamen del Quesu d'Urbiés took place in 2024 as the XXVIII edition, in 2025 as the XXIX edition and in 2026 as the XXX edition. This sequential naming makes the festival's development over time easy to follow.

At the 2026 Certamen del Quesu d'Urbiés, there was a presentation and tasting of the cheese on 6 June. On 7 June, an arts and crafts market, cheese sales and another cheese tasting followed.

Quesu d'Urbiés is made from whole cow's milk without the addition of rennet or starter culture. The milk curdles through acidification, which takes four to five days. The cheese has a very strong and sharp flavour.
