Baradal – Dolmen, Museums and Festival Traditions

Baradal draws attention to the Dolmen de Baradal: near a stream lies the Neolithic burial dolmen, one of the prehistoric megalithic monuments belonging to the parish of the same name.

In connection with Baradal, burials are regarded as traces of agricultural settlements and their ways of life and beliefs. The area surrounding the Dolmen de Baradal was prepared for visitors in 2019. Since then, vegetation has obstructed the view, so that only the upper parts of some orthostats are visible and the monument cannot be seen in its entirety.

The Fiesta de La Magdalena is also one of the village’s traditional events. The Fiesta de La Magdalena in Baradal combined tradition, music and popular activities until the late night or early morning hours.

The mountain of Palancas lies in the wider regional surroundings of Baradal. The Playa de Santa Ana, Playa Barchinas and Playa de Portizuelo beaches are also located there. The Ruta Tineo MTB route begins and ends in Tineo and passes through El Baradal, Tuña, Areñas, Santianes, El Rodical, Castañera and Castiecho. The sequence of named places makes the route easy to follow in detail. For personal planning, the type of trail, length, duration and route can be considered separately. The two trail descriptions use different scales: the MTB route connects several named places, while the circular route at the dolmen explicitly gives its distance of 0.19 kilometres and duration of 10 minutes. Thus, a route passing through several places stands alongside a circular trail with its own distance and time information.

The Baradal Dolmen Route is an easy 0.19-kilometre circular trail with a duration of 10 minutes. Alongside the MTB route, this provides a briefly described trail format with its own length and time details.

The programme for the 2025 Fiesta de La Magdalena in Baradal, Ordial de la Barca and Vallamonte included a celebratory mass with a procession at 1:00 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., a football match between single and married men was scheduled. At 9:30 p.m., Restaurant Lozano served a large dinner consisting of mixed paella, Escalopines al Cabrales, turrón cake, coffee and liqueurs, available for a donation of 19 euros.
