Culture and History

A trail begins in Barrio del Viso on the outskirts of Villa Tineo and ends in El Crucero, where the intensive angling area “El Arenero” can be visited. El Arenero is located within the El Arenero intensive angling area near El Crucero, about three kilometres from Villa Tineo. Fishing, hiking and cycling are possible in the El Arenero area.

At the Embalse de Pilotuerto there is a 500-metre-long walking path from which numerous species of waterfowl can be observed.

The Carbayón de Valentín is located in the municipality of Tineo, in the village of Valentín, next to the Chapel of San Pedro. The Carbayón de Valentín is a very old oak tree and is designated as a natural monument.

Cuisine and Festivals

Chosco de Tineo is a cured and smoked sausage in a pig intestine casing. It is made from selected cuts of pork, including neck and tongue, as well as salt, paprika and garlic.

The Festival del Chosco-Asturalimentaria is a gastronomic fair dedicated to Chosco de Tineo and quality-labelled foods. The Campeonato Nacional de Bateo del Oro takes place in Navelgas in July.

The San Roque festival in Tineo includes a championship in the Tineo bowling game and a traditional procession on 18 August; the procession has been documented since the 20th century.
