Lastres displays its maritime character in a townscape whose houses are arranged in tiers and face the sea. The coast, historic buildings and excursion destinations shape different aspects of the town and its surroundings.
Culture and History
One historic detail is the old anchor object El Ancla. It was recovered from the seabed off the port of Llastres by divers from the Spanish Navy. The Palacio de Los Robledo, also known as El Cuartel or El Cuartelón, was used as a barracks by French troops during the Peninsular War. The coat of arms of the Robledo family is still preserved on its façade.
The clock tower of Llastres was built in its present form in 1751; its origins date back to the 15th century. Together with the Palacio and the anchor object, it points to different historical layers of the town, although these sights do not tell the same story.
Crafts and Museums
Anchoas Hazas offers groups guided tours by prior reservation, during which the production process is demonstrated. The 100% artisanally produced anchovies are processed by hand, washed in cold water and carefully deboned. The production process and the historic buildings thus represent different cultural focal points.
The Museo del Jurasico de Asturias museum is located in the immediate vicinity of Lastres. The church “Lastres” is also located nearby. In the wider regional surroundings of Lastres are the Centro de Arte Rupestre de Tito Bustillo museum, Cuevas de Tito Bustillo and Tito Bustillo.
Coast and Landscape
The Mirador de San Roque viewpoint is located on Campo de San Roque; from there, it offers views of Lastres and its bay. Playa de Llastres is a sandy and pebbly beach below the town of Llastres, protected by high cliffs. El Escanu is a small beach next to the port of Lastres and is easily accessible from the town.
Pico Pienzu is also located in the surroundings of Lastres. Cabo Lastres lies nearby. This places seaside locations, a viewpoint overlooking the bay and town, a sheltered sandy and pebbly beach, and other landscape features side by side.
Excursions and Activities
The Mirador del Fitu viewpoint is located in the surroundings of Lastres. Aqua/Astuerasub offers diving courses ranging from introductory diving to training as a three-star diver, including the specialisations offered by FEDAS. Coastal, cultural and excursion-related topics can therefore be considered as separate focal points.
A holiday apartment in Lastres can be described in different ways with regard to travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. The period, category and conditions are presented as separate details at the centre of the accommodation information, providing a clear, factual framework for planning.
