Puebla De Roda on the Isábena: Culture and Trails

Culture

In La Puebla de Roda, the parish church of Santiago houses the carved figure of the Virgen de Pedruy. The Romanesque bridge over the Isábena is part of the cultural heritage of La Puebla de Roda. Sacred woodcarving and Romanesque architecture thus provide different cultural points of interest that can be considered separately when planning your day. Culture and physical activity can therefore stand side by side as two separate focal points.

Hiking trails

The fourth stage of the GR 17 follows the left bank of the Isábena to La Puebla de Roda and then continues on to Roda de Isábena. It is classified as a Sendero Turístico de Aragón. La Puebla de Roda is shaped by the N-230 road. For planning purposes, the bank of the river, the order of the places, the trail category and the road connection can be considered independently of one another. The various details address different planning questions: geographical direction, the nature of the stage and the location of the village on a road.

Further routes

PR HU 123 also runs between Visalibons and La Puebla de Roda. The third and final stage leads from Visalibons via Villacarli to La Puebla de Roda; it is 11.385 km long and has an estimated duration of 3 hours and 50 minutes. This third stage is considered moderately difficult. Starting point, intermediate stop, destination, distance and time indication form a clear sequence of orientation data for this route. When comparing different hiking days, you can therefore place the route, length and estimated duration side by side. The distance and the estimated duration are two different details for assessing the time required for the trail.

Landscape

La Portella is a pass in the eastern foothills of the Sierra del Chordal, offering views over the valley. In the Valle del Isábena, circular route 14 runs along the left bank of the Isábena. Interesting geological formations can be seen along the way, and the landscape has been shaped by the effects of the river over centuries. The pass, valley views, riverbank and geological formations can be weighted separately when choosing between the landscape highlights described. The pass location, valley views, riverbank and geology represent different landscape perspectives.

History

A cultural detour leads to the Ermita de Santa María de Pedrui. It is the only surviving remnant of the former small settlement of Pedrui and is located approximately 3 km from La Puebla de Roda via a short detour. The church of Santa María de Pedrui was consecrated on 5 November 972 by Bishop Odesindo of Roda.
