Torrequebrada: Beach, Golf and History

Culture

It is believed that the Torre Vigía de Torrequebrada was built by Muslims on a steep hill at Punta Negra. The tower is cylindrical and seven metres high. Its strategic location offered views of the coast of the Alboran Sea.

The Torre Quebrada is part of the Islamic-medieval network of watchtowers along this coast. At the end of the 16th century, it was rebuilt in its present geometry. Using fire and smoke, the Torre Vigía de Torrequebrada could communicate with other towers and nearby settlements.
